We were excited to have the opportunity to work with the incredible team at IBM for their 2012 Smarter Commerce Global Summit (@IBMSmrtCommerce, #IBMSCGS), September 5-7, 2012. The event exceeded capacity (can you say packed house?). IBM broke a Guiness World Record for longest handshake signifying the meaning of truly connecting with people in person and substantively (here are the first photos of the Guiness moment that we captured and tweeted: ). And, in partnership with IBM’s social media team and the social media influencers at the event, we helped trend the event for two solid days on Twitter with multimedia content aggregated from attendees, IBM and our team of Social Media Reporters.
It was an incredible event and we were happy to be able to participate on behalf of our awesome, forward-thinking client, IBM. Did I mention that the weather in Orlando at Disney’s Dolphin & Swan Resort was perfect (sunny, warm, not too humid). Clearly, the “event gods” were smiling down on this event but, more than that, the success of this event was due to hard work and strategic planning by IBM’s team including Michela Stribling (Director of Social Media) and Tami Cannizzaro (Director of Marketing) — trending, breaking world records, and redefining conference “events as usual”. Thank you team IBM!
Not only did IBM’s social media team bring the social media thunder, but the Social Media Influencers enlisted by IBM to participate in the event through guest speaking, tweet chats and live-blogging coverage also offered incredible insight, social media content and enthusiasm that raised the pulse of the event. Influencers included:
- Guy Kawasaki (keynote speaker and host with the most, @GuyKawasaki)
- Bryan Kramer (CEO of PureMatter, @BryanKramer)
- Pam Moore (CEO, Marketing Nutz @pammktgnut, @mktgnutz)
- Ted Rubin (Chief Social Marketing Officer at Collective Bias, @TedRubin)
- Karen Wickre (Editorial Director at Twitter, @kvox)
For great recaps of the conference, visit IBM’s blog here and check out the video highlights of the event here. You can find plenty of photos of the event on Pinterest here.
Served Fresh Media had a team of Social Media Reporters and amplifiers at the event who did a great job of amplifying the voice, the excitement and the message of the event to the broader audience in social media while capturing video, photos and feedback from attendees. Very proud of the team we assembled. I would like to introduce you to them:
